Keep your valuable jewelery wrapped in aromatic, rose-colored silk.
Original accessories created by a fukusa silk bag maker

Ikueni silk jewelery bags, (called fukusa in Japanese), were made to hold your most sentimental objects, such as rings, necklaces, and other jewelery. Fukusa bags are recognized as a local cultural heritage of Moriyama City. Kiyohara has combined these fukusa bags with the city’s beautiful wabara roses to create a new line of accessories. Dye made from a small amount of the rose petals is used to reproduce their beautiful hue. The bags are made using exquisite silk from Shiga Prefecture known as hamachirimen. The fabric’s soft texture gently holds your delicate jewelry.

Based in Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, product developer Kiyohara Co.,Ltd. is the leading company in the fukusa bag industry, producing over 300,000 bags a year in a domestic industry that produces approximately 900,000 to one million bags a year. Fukusa bags are used for marriages, funerals, festivals and other ceremonies. With a high degree of craftsmanship, Kiyohara Co.,Ltd. bring out the true essence of the fukusa bags, employing natural sewing techniques that conceal the rear fabric and adhesion techniques that keep the fabric from peeling. Kiyohara Co.,Ltd. established the Wakana brand to fully utilize the craftsmanship, expertise, and conceptual approach they learned from creating fukusa bags. From makeup bags, business card cases, silk fans, and maternity notebooks, the brand designs and sells a wide range of original products employing the weaving techniques used to make fukusa bags.

The Ikueni product line uses wabara roses, and was created as a new series for the Wakana brand. Though the series focuses primarily on fukusa jewelery bags, Kiyohara Co.,Ltd. is also developing additional products, aiming to strengthen the lineup’s appeal and create a new brand for the Moriyama and Shiga region.
