Created by CEO Takashi Hagai and two designers, KOZZcreate’s Rotating Glass Stand is a niche product for a small number of consumers. It was originally designed to personally store Hagai’s glasses. The first prototypes were made by his father, who operates a steelworks factory in eastern Osaka, but a difference in taste stalled the product, and the remaining prototypes were sold at an auction. Despite thinking no one would purchase them, the three prototype stands on display immediately sold out. Surprised by this, Hagai inquired with the purchasers, who told him they’d been looking for just such a product.

Sensing demand, Hagai consulted with two young, hopeful product designers, who succeeding in improving the usability and design sensibility. Presently the product is on sale at Rakuten, and other such markets. “If we put out the same products as everyone else, people would hesitate to make a purchase, thinking about cost and delivery,” says Hagai, as he creates item’s he has long desired from his home. After establishing his design company, Hagai aims to commercialize with an artisanal approach, placing emphasis on the free development of ideas amongst the company’s creators. “Though product development may not directly link to sales, I’m okay with making a single piece if someone desires it.”
